Acting with the responsibility of environmental sustainability, Eurasia Tunnel equalized the carbon footprint of its operational activities. It was entitled to receive the ISO 14064 Carbon Neutral Certificate and reached its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral project in 2022.
The operation and maintenance building of the Eurasia Tunnel is designed as a LEED Gold Certified green building; It is managed in accordance with energy saving, recycling, and sustainability criteria. All of the electricity consumed in tunnel operations is met from renewable sources. It is certified with the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate every year, thus helping to reduce the carbon footprint caused by electricity needs.
