The Eurasia Tunnel, which connects Istanbul's Asian and European sides through a 5-kilometer, double-decker underwater road tunnel, has been providing a "Fast," "Economical," "Safe," "Comfortable," and "Environmentally Friendly" transportation alternative for the past eight years. With its cutting-edge technology, advanced engineering, and the unique route that bridges continents, it continues to serve as a significant transit option across the Bosphorus.
 
Officially inaugurated on December 20, 2016, in a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Eurasia Tunnel opened to traffic on December 22, 2016. Over the past eight years, it has been used by 8.3 million unique license plate vehicles, completing a total of 151 million trips.
 
Calculations based on the Kozyatağı-Bakırköy corridor reveal that in eight years, the tunnel has saved users 211 million hours of travel time, 261,000 tons of fuel, reduced emissions by 115,000 tons, and decreased accident costs equivalent to 590 million vehicle-kilometers avoided. Since the beginning of service, the project has contributed a total of $2 billion to the national economy over the past eight years.
