Cultural Heritage

A great care was placed on the relationship of the Eurasia Tunnel Project with the Historical Peninsula of Istanbul which is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A number of studies have been conducted for that purpose and the design was improved in the light of these works and the project was ensured to be soundly and conformingly integrated into the region.

Archeology

All excavation works in the Historical Peninsula under the project were performed under the supervision of the relevant Cultural HeritagePreservation Council and Istanbul Archeological Museums Directorate of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism. A total of 11 archeologists as appointed by Istanbul Archeological Museums Directorate took part in the archeological research excavations at Yenikapı and Çatladıkapı areas, and all cultural findings were delivered to the museum.
