High security with advanced technology

In addition to its comfort and speed, Eurasia Tunnel also provides high security thanks to its state-of-the-art technology. Inside the Tunnel, there are many safety-oriented systems all based on advanced technology.

GSM and Internet communication inside the Tunnel

Two-way GSM and internet communication is provided inside the Tunnel. Speed control is ensured via the Tunnel Speed Limit Control System (TEDES) established with the coordination of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Security General Directorate, as in all the existing tunnels. The traffic is managed via Smart Transportation System established inside the Tunnel and on the approach roads, the SCADA System which ensures the equipment control inside the Tunnel, and the patrols.

Immediate intervention to the smallest incident

All possibilities have been planned diligently and 26 scenarios were prepared as appropriate for each situation. The Tunnel is monitored and managed via SCADA system. Patrol squads arrive at the place of the incident to make the first intervention within a couple of minutes at the latest following the detection of the incident by the operators employed at the traffic control room. In the organization of the operation, there are operators and patrol squads employed on a 7/24 basis for emergency intervention. Additionally, an Emergency Action Plan and Operational Safety Protocol were prepared with the participation of the relevant emergency services (Police, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ambulance Services, Firefighting Department, Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate).
Patrol vehicles and motorcycles designed specifically for use inside the Eurasia Tunnel were equipped appropriately so as to enable them to instantly intervene any accident inside the Tunnel. To evacuate any broken vehicle inside the Tunnel, towing vehicles are used which were prepared specifically for use inside the Tunnel.
All patrol vehicles are equipped with fire extinguishing systems. First response is carried out by the specialized patrol team within a couple of minutes. There are high-capacity drainage pumps for the evacuation of water from the Tunnel.
